Home Tableware & Barware | 1990s Turkish Silver Sini Tray SD78619

When it comes to Ottoman cuisine, food art, food culture, table richness and variety of food come to mind. From the time of Fatih, when Topkapı Palace was built, meals were cooked in the kitchens called Matbah-ı Amire. There were units under Matbah-ı Amire such as Has Kitchen, Ağalar Cuisine, Divan Cuisine, Helvahane, Pantry, and Kalayhane. Various tools were used in the Ottoman Empire, according to the palace food and beverage culture.

In the Ottoman Empire, the tradition of sitting on the ground to eat gave birth to sinuses. Sinis are generally trays designed to fit spoons, forks, plates, and food bowls, and although the rim height is no greater than 3 - 4 centimeters, copper or silver is used as the material. They are widely decorated with geometric patterns, figures such as stars, eagles, birds, rabbits, fish, and floral motifs such as cypress and flowers, in tattoo and carving techniques. Since, unlike the purpose of eating, are also used for purposes such as processing, collecting, and storing food.

The patterns on the Silver Sini were inspired by an 18th-century field exhibited in Topkapı Palace.

The Silver Sini is made of handmade glass and all the relief patterns on it are handcrafted and decorated using 24-carat platinum and Vintage paints.
