The Barker Ellis Silver Co Ltd, established in 1801, is one of the oldest firms of silversmiths and electroplaters now trading in Birmingham, England. Silver goods by the English maker are also referred to as Ellis-Barker. A wonderful pair of antique silver over copper electroplated candlesticks with removable wax trays in a neoclassical inverted shield form. Both are marked with the signature Barker Ellis menorah mark on one side, and England on the other, and have old felt protectors on the undersides. Each measures a substantial 6.75"W x 11.75"H x 4.5"D. The result of many polishings over the decades, the copper base metal has been revealed in numerous spots, creating an Old World patina that we love about this pair!
