Home Tableware & Barware | 1920s St. Clement Barbotine Hand-Painted Fruit Platter VS59120

Beautiful St. Clement France Barbotine fruit-motif platter or serving plate in large 12.5" size. The glazed majolica styling has soft hand-painted tones with a slightly raised lip that is mildly scalloped. According to the history of St. Clement, this piece would have been manufactured between 1920-1930 when the factory closed and is marked. The barbotine method refers to a ceramic technique in which decorative elements are either piped onto the base object (similar to decorating a cake) or first molded then applied. It gives the piece an embossed appearance.

There is a bonus plate hanger included that comes with the plate in case you prefer to hang it on the wall. The original Barbotine sticker is still affixed to the front. This is a very pretty serving or display piece.
