Flora Danica pieces have been hand painted after the original Flora Danica botanical encyclopedia from the 18th century, requested by King Frederik V, and presented to royalty all over the world. Each flower painting is inspired by the same copper print, and the variations demonstrate great attention to detail and the superb talent of the Royal Copenhagen artisans. Flora Danica’s prestigious pieces are considered to be part of the Danish cultural treasure of design and craftsmanship, and are still used by royalty today.
