Home Tableware & Barware | Antique Chinese Qing/Republic Carved Bamboo Root Teapot TZ24846

An inventive and well-carved bamboo root that became a teapot.

An old, unusual and imaginative decorative teapot carved from a single bamboo root and uses the shoots of the root as handles and a spout.

The body has nice deep carvings on of bamboo leaves and an etched line border around the teapot lid hole. The handles and spout have carved segment lines that simulate bamboo segments. The base has a shallow foot ring. The piece is heavy and has a nice dark smooth finish and an aged patina.

The teapot is intended for decorative use only. The interior has been carved out about an inch and a half and would hold only a few ounces of water.

There are no marks or labels.
