Home Tableware & Barware | Vintage Heisey Spanish Stiegel Blue Spanish Colonial Revival Craft Cocktail Coupes- Set of 4 XC86465

Heisey Spanish Stiegel Blue Cocktail Coupes Set of Four (we'll include and extra for future use)

These Spanish Colonial Coupes are stunning examples of period glasswork, the color is amazing while the molded stems have both a perfectly balanced weight, but also fantastic hand feel.

Cobalt? More of a sapphire blue, rich and deeply colored - Heisey named this color "Stiegel Blue." Heisey went to great lengths from 1925 through 1938 to produce distinct colors, and Heisey glass may often be identified from the specific colors alone.

This pattern was presented in 1933 and ran for 14 years.

The Spanish Colonial Revival period traces its roots to the 1880s in St. Augustine, Florida. The style really caught on in the 1910s lead by the designs of architect Bertram Goodhue who began designing in the style in Southern California.

It is not surprising that these were introduced toward the end of the heyday of the style. Mainly a California and Florida movement, the mid west, Chicago specifically continued the style that first came to town in the mid 1920s was still being built into the late 1940s. The Center of the country has always been a few years late in terms of style, but that allowed a long continuation in manufactured goods in that style.

Coupes stand 6 inches tall, 3 3/4 at mouth, 3 1/4 at foot. Capacity of 6 1/2 ounces.

Features one of the richest and darkest blues, (not midnight, more of a bright bright Navy blue). These are stunners! Each has 12 optic lines.

This pattern ran with several colors, and more rarely with a matching colored stem, and a very small number was the stem in contrasting colors.
