Exquisitely hand gilt and hand painted large Royal Vienna porcelain 16.75" charger with blue beehive mark on back. The raised gilding details with hand painted borders with masterfully painted central portrait.
Painting is after Wilhelm Menzler who was a painter of portraits, genre scenes and of flowers. Born in Kassel, Northern Germany, on 28 March 1846 Menzler died in 1926. Active in Munich he studied with van Lerins and went on to exhibit in Vienna from 1891. Menzler’s works can be found in museums and galleries in Budapest and in Sydney.
