These elegant twelve antique plates were crafted in Luneville, France, circa 1870. Each hand painted plate features a famous Paris landmark including "Place de la Concorde", "Palais de Justice", "Observatoire", "Ecole des Beaux Arts", "Palais du Louvre", "Ecole Militaire", "Jardin des Tuileries", "Palais du Luxembourg", "Hotel des Invalides", and "Hotel de Ville". Every ceramic plate has French writing with the name of monument. All of the cream and black faience plates are in good condition and signed on the bottom Luneville K & G. These plates would make a wonderful addition to a wall, or they could be used to serve cheese or dessert to entertain your guests! One plate has an old repair (see last two pictures)
Luneville Faience is one of the most famous French pottery manufacturers. It has been located in Lunéville, Lorraine, France, since 1730. The former pottery factory in Lunéville is now a company store, production continuing in Saint Clément.
