American designer and artist Sascha Brastoff was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. A colorful artist with a varied career, he danced with the Cleveland Ballet, served in WWII, designed sculptures and more for Hollywood studios and opened a ceramic factory in Los Angles. His Surf Ballet dinnerware was produced in the 1950s and 60s, and it exemplified mid-century modern design. Each piece was decorated with a matte marbleized glaze that had a slight metallic appearance. Brastoff left his company in 1962, but his wares were still produced under his name until 1973.
**We have a second plate of this size that is also in beautiful condition, but has on chip on edge. Please inquire for pictures and more information.
