This Japanese hand-cast iron "owl" lantern is a rare find.
Produced in the 1960s in a Brutalist style, intended to hold incense or to be used as a garden lantern/candleholder.
No damage, just roughness from manufacturing and original patina appropriate to its age. Very good condition overall.
Two pieces set together to cover a standard small tealight candle. Impressed to bottom, JAPAN.
