These six dainty rice/tea bowls caught my eye. They are hand painted, and the colors are still vibrant, even after 50 years! The bowls have two outer sides of hand painted flowers. The flowers are various shades of burnt orange, cream, blue, and yellow. There are green leaves and something that appears to be black bamboo. There is a tiny sign tucked behind the flowers that is written in traditional Japanese. I thought this may be a calendar or a poem? The two sides are identical but one is a smaller version of the other. The rim and base are lined with gold paint and there are splashes of gold in the autumn flowers as well. The bottom has Japan painted along with some Japanese symbols. Possibly signed by the artist? I'm amazed at the amount of work and details and care that went into this tiny bowls. The dominate color would be white/cream but it's the burnt orange that catches my eye.
