This large platter was purchased in Manhattan in 1975 from an Upper East side store specializing in Japanese and Chinese pieces. Not many questions were asked at the time. The platter fit the need. It is a very generous size, so if you like to make dramatic presentations
of your latest big bird or roast, this is the perfect piece, It also would be great to display on a shelf or wall, or perhaps on a hutch. It is thick so it would require a strong support.
The back signage does not have the "Made in Japan" export sign, so I am not sure it was destined for export to the US. The porcelain or iron stone is fired with a shiny glaze.
The design is very upbeat and strong..
This platter would look at home with any blue and white collection. It is a strong sturdy piece that should be usefulfor many years to come.
