This charming English Majolica pitcher is made of molded pottery with hand-painted enamel colors. It depicts rose blossoms on either side, on the tips of green stems and leaves, with a brown branch handle. The roses sit atop a yellow basket which matches the yellow rim. Over the top half, deep cobalt blue flows downward over the roses and basket. This technique was fashionable during the late Victorian era. The interior glaze is light lavender, and there is a molded but obscure marking on the bottom. This scarce pitcher dates from 1870 to 1885. There is a tiny glaze ding on the rim, which is typical for this type of pottery.. This pitcher will add something unusual to your collection or décor.
