Received as a wedding gift, stored and never used. “China Song” pattern of dainty orange, pink, and yellow flowers on delicate vines of pale blue and green. Each piece is trimmed in orange with a border of complementary flowered vines on a blue and ivory band. 12-piece place settings, with additional serving pieces and accessories.

Celebrated for its use of color, pattern and design, Noritake china is a prized possession for collectors worldwide. The history of Noritake dates to 1876, when Japanese businessman Ichizaemon Morimura and his brother Toyo opened Morimura Brothers in New York City, where they sold Asian Vintages and decorative arts, and exported traditional Japanese wares.

In 1904 they opened a porcelain factory in Japan called Nippon Toni Kaisha Ltd. By 1914 they had created their first Western style dinner set to compete with European porcelain. In 1981 they assumed the name of Noritake Co., Ltd. and produced consistently high quality dinnerware that was new, contemporary in design and consistently in demand.

Today Noritake remains of the largest manufacturers of china and porcelain with production facilities all over the world. It continues to be a valuable collectible for china and porcelain enthusiasts.

Many of the pieces in this set are no longer available, as it is no longer in production, and most are difficult to find. If sold new today, this set would exceed $1000, so this is a very good deal!
